This wine has been vinified from a blend of 75% Tempranillo grapes and 25% Garnacha grapes. The Garnacha grapes come from low yield vineyards in the Rioja Baja region, and during hot years, such as 2004, this gives the wine a pronounced Mediterranean character. The Tempranillo grapes are grown in cooler areas with more of an atlantic influence and this gives the wine not only more body and sweetness but also more floral and black fruit aromas.
The harvested grapes are brought to the winery where they are destemmed and crushed. A long period of cold maceration follows, allowing the colour and aromas to fully develop. The must is fermented at a low temperature with its skins and then the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats. The wine is left to age for a period of 12 months in new American oak barrels and is finally kept in the bottle for several months to allow the flavours to integrate.

Tasting note:
This wine is deep cherry-red in colour with purple tones. The nose is intense, with ripe red fruits, spices and vanilla aromas resulting from a period of barrel ageing. The palate is powerful and rich with polished tannins and a long finish.

Recommendations:
Perfect with salads, pasta, rice and white meat dishes. Serve at 15ºC
